A few months ago I was flipping through channels early on a weekend morning. It was one infomercial after another for kitchen gadgets and then I landed on the one for the Cricut. It looks like a printer but is really a precision paper cutter and a million other things. They market it for the scrapbookers but I don't do that and never will-I can't stand the idea of cutting up photos but that's my hangup and another story. Anyway, it has it's own half hour infomercial and I get sucked into it every time. I practically start drooling when I watch it. I could waste hours on this thing and I could make things on it like cards to sell on Etsy. As you can see, I am trying to justify spending the money for this thing. In the craft stores and Wal-Mart it's between $100-$200 plus you have to buy all these different cartridges for it that cost about $40 each. Then there's the cost of all the different papers and I cold go on and on. This is what always stops me from buying it because it looks like a huge money pit. I know I'm going to be caught in a moment of weakness and order it though. I'll keep you posted.

He's All Grown Up Now
Well, It's official-I have no more babies in this house. Declan lost his very first tooth on Wednesday. I was at work when it happened and he called me to tell me about it and I almost burst into tears.
On the other hand, he was very excited about it. Tim said it bled a little and his face turned really white so he had to lay down for a bit afterwards. He made me call the tooth fairy to let her know to come to our house that night and he also put in a request for a paper dollar instead of coins.
I had made Grace a little wooden tooth fairy box when her teeth started falling out and luckily, I made one for Declan last year, just in case. Grace's has little fairies all over and Declan's has bugs. You can see his tiny little tooth inside the box next to the beetle.
This morning, he was the proud owner of a brand new dollar. He told me he woke up a little during the night and saw the Tooth Fairy. I asked him what she looked like and he said, "Like a little fairy of course!". He also said he saw her disappear in a puff of fairy dust. I asked him what he was going to spend his dollar on and he told me he was saving up for a pet iguana. He's going to have to lose a lot more teeth for that.

A Little Redecorating Might Help
A trip to the movies has led me to a little blog updating. I had the day off today and decided to take my once a year alone trip to the movies since I had the chance. I headed off to see the ultimate girly movie, Julie and Julia. I had read the book so I wanted to see the movie as well as Meryl Streep as Julia Child. The whole point of the movie/book was about a blog...which was updated every single day. I have been paying attention to mine maybe once a week. I was ashamed and thought if maybe I changed the look, I might be better at updating. There are so many cute blogs out there but I assume they are that way because professional graphic designers have been hired to make them that way. I have changed my template several times since I started this so there was nothing new jumping out at me on Bloggers template choices. I then remembered my friend Heather's site had recently gotten very cute. I doubted she had hired a graphic designer to do it. I noticed in the corner of hers it now advertised "The Cutest Blog on the Block" website. One click on that opened up a whole new world of free blog backgrounds so, thanks Heather. I don't know if I'm done yet or if I will stick with this one but this is fun.

Black & White Is Better
I could never get rid of my cable TV because, in the first place, that would just be crazy-might as well deprive me of oxygen too.
In the second place, I would lose Turner Classic Movies which, I think, is one of the best channels ever put together. There is
always something good to watch and the black and white ones are somehow better. I seem to remember that when I was little
I thought that the world was in black and white just like on the screen and that people didn't start seeing in color until sometime
in the 1960's. Funny thing is, Grace had the same idea and asked me about it last week. I tend to avoid the westerns and gangster
movies because I'm not a boy. Below are some of my favorites. I actually own a few of them on DVD but always seem to watch
them when they are on. Almost every day I wake up and am tempted to call in sick to work so I can stay in bed and watch old movies
all day. One day I am going to do it.

Foggy Days Are Why They Built The Lighthouse
Today was a very odd weather day. I couldn't decide if it was rainy and cold or wet and humid out. By 3pm I had had enough of sitting around the house with the kids and couldn't stand listening to one more episode of Sponge Bob. I told them we were just getting into the car and taking a drive. We ended up at a very foggy Portland Headlight.
Declan sat down on every memorial bench along the way and it was starting to get morbid because he wanted to know how all these people died so we packed it up and went home.
