Halloween 2011

We had a very low key Halloween around here. It somehow snuck up on us right after a snowstorm and long power outage. By the time we made it to the store, only the tiny pumpkins were left. I decided to simplify things and just paint them instead of carving them. This also meant I didn't feel obligated to roast the seeds and have them hang around uneaten.
I might go with painting them from now on. So much easier to deal with.
I wasn't allowed to take a picture of Grace but here are her hands and the cute blue face she was painting on her pumpkin. See the lantern on the table? The lights had only just come back on.
Declan saw this costume on a commercial and had to have it. I'm not even sure what this is called. It's the Scream mask but it has a clear plastic mask mounted on top of it and you pump fake blood through it. The black Death cloak just adds to the effect. Whatever happened to the little boy I dressed as a puppy and a cow?
Grace was much more straightforward as an evil witch. She decided to humor her mother and stood still for a picture. What I love about this picture is that she looks younger than 11 in it. She wanted to go around with me this year but who knows what next year holds. This might have been my last Halloween with her. She'll probably go out with friends next year.
