Love The Library

I grew up going to a small library inside an old home. I also went to the Rangeley library which wasn't in a house but it might as well have been. I went to the library a lot. When I moved to Portland (20 years ago almost!) I headed right to the intown branch and got my library card. Something about that building just overwhelmed me and it was hard to look at books. Too many people in the aisles and too many mentally ill people wandering in to do I don't know what. I know that makes me a horrible person but its hard to pick out books while someone is barking or having a conversation with with one of their other personalities. I get this enough at work. I never gave much thought to the neighborhood branches they have but I finally smartened up when Grace was first born. Now we go to the Burbank branch every Saturday and we have for years. Its located inside an old house. There are no mentally ill people inside. Its mostly all little kids which is sort of the same thing. They have completely renovated the old downtown library and its beautiful but I will always choose this one over it. You'll just have to excuse my crappy IPhone picture of it.

The library in my town is a tiny one, not unlike one of the branch libraries. All of these Nooks and Kindles make me worried for the future of libraries...I cannot fathom chosing an electronic device over a real book, but I digress. Loved this post.
