A couple of Christmas's ago, we had a tree stand failure and I lost a lot of my glass bulbs when the tree crashed over. I always see these clear empty bulbs in the store this time of year. I've bought them before and filled them with tinsel and Christmassy stuff like that. This year, I found a new idea for them on Pinterest and it was so simple but weird that I decided to try it.
I bought a box of ornaments...
and some of Martha's extra fine glitter. The "extra fine" part is key.
And of course I bought a big bottle of Pledge floor wax with the blue cap from the Super crazy Wal-Mart. I hate the Super crazy Wal-Mart. Especially on a Sunday morning.
They're very easy to make once you have everything gathered. You'll want a lot of paper towels too. You pour some of the wax inside the bulb and swish it around so the whole inside gets coated and you pour out the excess wax. Then you pour in some glitter and swirl that all around until the whole inside is coated. Pour out the excess glitter and pop the top back on the bulb and you have yourself a pretty ornamanet.
Now, I've never been quiet about my hatred of glitter. I firmly believe it a product of the devil. The extra fine stuff though is more like dust and easy to clean up. I can handle having it in the house. Doesn't mean I'm letting the kids anywhere near it.
Now I have a whole new set of sparkly ornaments and all that evil glitter is trapped inside. All 6 of these took me 10 minutes to make so I will be making more.
